Excerpt from the Rejected Musical Series Finale

A while back, someone suggested that Andromeda could do a "musical episode", like Xena did. Many thought this wouldn't be a good idea. What follows is an excerpt from the rejected script for the Andromeda Series Finale. Be your own judge.

With 49 of the necessary 50 signatory worlds to his new Commonwealth Charter, Dylan returns to Arazia ("A Rose in the Ashes") to give them a second chance. Deciding a slightly different approach is necessary this time, Dylan takes the entire crew with him. As the scene opens, we see them standing side-by side in front of the council.

Dylan is wearing his military uniform
Harper is wearing his leather jacket and a motorcycle helmet.
Trance is wearing something with fringes, and feathers sticking out of her hair
Rommie is wearing the dark blue vest from the last few episodes of season 1, and a police hat
Tyr is wearing a hard hat, muscle shirt, and construction apron
Beka has a 10-gallon hat and lasso
Rev is dressed as normal

A steady beat starts in the background. The crew points, in unison, to each member of the council in turn, and begins to sing. And dance...

(Tune: "YMCA", by The Village People)

Council, won't you listen to me?
I said, council, I'm sure you'll agree
I said, council, just make your decree
Yes you can sign the charter
Council, there's a club you can join
I said, council, it won't cost you much coin
You can sign here, and I'm sure you will find
Many ways to keep your world safe.
It's good to sign with the New Commonwealth
It's good to sign with the New Commonwealth
We all benefit from Dylan's master plan.
You can hang out with the Than.
It's good to sign with the New Commonwealth
It's good to sign with the New Commonwealth
You can make some new friends, you can make a good trade
You'll be safe from pirate raids.
Council, Are you listening to me
I said, council, what do you want to be
I said, council, you can make real your dreams,
But you've got to know this one thing.
No world, does it all by themself
I said, council, put your pride on the shelf
And just join us, in the New Commonwealth
I'm sure they can help you today
It's good to sign with the New Commonwealth
It's good to sign with the New Commonwealth
We all benefit from Dylan's master plan.
You can hang out with the Than..
It's good to sign with the New Commonwealth
It's good to sign with the New Commonwealth
You can make some new friends, you can make a good trade
You'll be safe from pirate raids.
Council, there were worlds in your shoes,
I said, they were down and out with the blues
They were lost in technological fog
They were overrun with Magog
That's when Dylan made the big save
And said council we can help you out here
There's a charter for the New Commonwealth
They can bring your world back to health.
It's good to sign with the New Commonwealth
It's good to sign with the New Commonwealth
We all benefit from Dylan's master plan.
You can hang out with the Than.
New Commonwealth
It's good to sign with the New Commonwealth
It's good to sign with the New Commonwealth
Council, Council, say that you won't decline
Council, Council, pick your pen up and sign
New Commonwealth
Just sign with the New Commonwealth
Council, Council, there were worlds in your shoes,
Council, Council, they were out with the blues
New Commonwealth
New Commonwealth
New Commonwealth
New Commonwealth

A pause… The beat changes slightly…

(Tune: "In the Navy" by The Village People)

Where can you find pleasure, guard your greatest treasure,
Share science, technology?
Where can you begin to make your dreams all come true
On the land or on the sea?
Where can you learn to fly, in slipstream or in sky,
Study xenobiology?
Sign up for the High Guard or sit in your back yard
When your race and others meet.
In the S.C., that's the Systems Commonwealth
In the S.C., there's happiness and health
In the S.C., we'll span three galaxies
In the S.C., there are no entrance fees
In the S.C., we have technical expertise
In the S.C., come on and join your fellow Than.
In the S.C., come on, people, and make a stand.
In the S.C., in the S.C..
They want you! They want you! They want you as a new recruit!
You don't have to line up if you want to sign up
Make the right decision fast.
Don't you hesitate, there is no need to wait;
They're signing up new planets fast.
No planet is too young to join up today
So don't you worry 'bout a thing
For I'm sure there will be always the good S.C.
Protecting the old slipstream.
In the S.C....
They want you! They want you! They want you as a new recruit!
They want you! They want you! They want you as a new recruit!
..But..but..but I'm afraid of slipstream!
..hey..hey..look, men...
I get spacesick even watching it on the TV!
They want You! - Oh my goodness!
They want you! - What am I gonna do in a warship?
They want you! They want you!
In the S.C.
In the S.C... (fade out)

The council confers. Deciding Helios IX was too good for them the first time, they have the entire crew summarily executed.
